There were several, but the biggest ones were those Nazis convicted of war crimes. On October 15, Hermann GOring cheated the hangman's noose by commiting suicide, but others died by execution on October 16, Arthur Seyss-Inquart, Wilhelm Frick, Alfred Jodl, Ernst Kaltenbrunner, Wilhelm Keitel, Alfred Rosenberg and Fritz Saukel.

One other famous person who died in 1946 was Hall of Fame baseball player Walter Johnson. He died on December 10 of a brain tumor. He was one of the best pitchers and one of the first to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
