anyone use carbon chips in their fishtanks? i've heard that it makes the water very clear , but also heard linked to hole in head. anyone?

by carbon chips are we talking about charcoal, if thats the case it removes a lot of pollutants, however it would have no realtion to hole in the head which is a parasite and what would burnt wood have to do with a parasite?

There have been links found to HITH with carbon - that is, people who have found no other reason for the problem and discovered a simple solution of removing carbon altogether.

Carbon removes elements from the water - the problem is that it will remove elements both good and bad, which is where the link to certain diseases can come from.

i mix carbon and ammonia chips and my tank looks beautiful
