During sex I tend to dry up half way through. My boyfriend would do a bit of oral, and that works fine for a bit until I dry up again. He said we should try lube, but I am scared to death about using lube again. The three previous times I used lube it was around the same time I contracted a UTI. I thought I didn't clean myself very well, but the last time I cleansed like crazy and still had to go the doctor. Is it a allergic reaction? am I just not cleaning well after?

A UTI is an infection, caused by bacteria in the bladder. It is not an allergic reaction.
Lubricants do NOT cause urinary tract infections.
Touching around that area (with or without lube) can increase the likelihood of bacteria getting into the urethra, and from there, the bladder.

Try using a lubricant again, and look for one that says it is "long lasting."
If you are irritated afterwards, that could be a sensitivity reaction. You have to experiment with and without it. See if it matters.

Always try to urinate after having sex. It helps to wash away any bacteria that get in there. If you can't go, drink some water and go later. It will still help. That will help with the UTI problem.

I found this on-line. Pay attention to paragraphs 2 and 3 as it might relate to you. Hope this helps.

What Causes Urinary Tract Infections?

The most common cause of UTI are bacteria from the bowel that live on the skin near the rectum or in the vagina which can spread and enter the urinary tract through the urethra. Once these bacteria enter the urethra they travel upwards causing infection in the bladder and sometimes other parts of the urinary tract.

Sexual intercourse is a common cause of urinary tract infections because the female anatomy can make women more prone to urinary tract infections. During sexual intercourse bacteria in the vaginal area is sometimes massaged into the urethra by the motion of the penis.

Women who change sexual partners or begin having sexual intercourse more frequently may experience bladder or urinary tract infections more often than women in monogomus relationships. Although it is rare, some women get a urinary tract infection every time they have sex.

Another cause of bladder infections or UTI is waiting too long to urinate. The bladder is a muscle that stretches to hold urine and contracts when the urine is released. Waiting very long past the time you first feel the need to urinate causes the bladder to stretch beyond its capacity which over time can weaken the bladder muscle. When the bladder is weakened it may not empty completely and some urine is left in the bladder which may increase the risk of urinary tract infection or bladder infection.

Other factors may also increase a woman's risk of developing UTI including pregnancy, having urinary tract infections or bladder infections as a child, having past menopause, and diabetes.

you should try a different type of lube if that doesn't work through out the time of having sex you and your partner should try the oral thing here and there so that it doesn't even have a chance to get dry again plus i believe that it is fun stop and go i makes it seem like your doing it for a long time enjoy yourself.

No, the dryness of touch lenses does not have some thing to do with the answer used. Contacts simply make your eyes and themselves dry. I endorse Opti-Free since it sanitizes and moisturizes while. I use it myself and, even though my eyes ARE dry, I cannot consider it in any respect throughout the day if I positioned a few drops in my eyes within the morning. Hope I helped!

You might want to try a lube that has no frgrances or extra chemicals in it. And after you have sex dont just wash the outside of your vagina. Try a douche too, so you can get all the excess out. Good Luck

I use it and i'm ok. I get lots of infections too. You have to get in the shower, squat down and wash just the outside, just the outside only, then dry really good with a clean towel and then go pee. This will help not to get a UTI.

It sounds like you are allergic to the kind that you are using if I were you I would try other kinds like none smelling none scented stuff just plain old lube.
