beginner electric guitar?

Question

yo. i wanted to start playing guitar and im gonna get my first guitar soon. i was wonderin which one is good for a complete beginner. i like heavy metal and music like that .here are some guitars i was thinking about

Epiphone SG special electric guitar package
a fender squier.
cheap ones from walmart
yamaha's ??

people are staying stay away from the package but im not sure

squiers suck, big time,

acoustic- yamaha F-335 (good beginner guitar)
Electric- then an epiphone is ok

I started about half a year ago and my guitar is a Crafter Electric Ashland series. It's a really heavy guitar for a beginner so it has a lot of sustain and the action on it is really nice. Anyhow I'm sure you've never heard of Crafter and most haven't... The point here is go to Guitar Center, go to local music stores and just pick some up and goof around. That is how you will find the right guitar for you. I would say to stay away from the package as well. If you like Heavy Metal you are not going to get any kind of sound other than clean plinky out of the tiny solid state amps that come in those kits. My advice to you is to go find a Roland Microcube. Best starter amp out there. I have one right here next to me and it is great. It's small, it models many different style amps so as a beginner you can just mess around playing different things. The Mesa Boogie model on the micro cube is very very heavy and perfect for playing metal.

Anyhow as far as the guitar goes, you should just go pick some of them up and strum them and see what feels right. As far as the amp goes I highly recomend the Roland Microcube. It can also run off batteries in addition to being plugged in and that portability is just awesome.

A Fender Squier is a good guitar to start learning on. Basically it's a more affordable version of the more expensive Fender guitars. Not as great quality of course, but it's great for just starting out.

What ever you do STAY AWAY FROM THE WALMART GUITARS!!!
I had a cousin that bought a guitar from walmart and while my uncle was tuning it for him, it snaped in half.

Epiphone and Squiers are both good for beginers. I don't know very much about Yamaha but i do think that you should go with a package from epiphone or squier.

If i were you, i would go with an epiphone.

My theory is when first starting out i like to get the best.Just because u dont have to keep upgrading and paying more money again and again.Im not telling u to buy the best but buy u something that will last.Just go to any music store and tell someone your budget and tell them u want a guitar that stays in tune!But as far as metal , i would go with a Ibanez ...

guitar center is usefull. if you like metal, try a cheap Jackson or a B.C rich meybe a Dean. The Fenders and Epiphones wont sound nearly as metal but are probably made better.

ok, when your shopping for guitars, i like fenders, i started out with one, and it is my favorie, and if you dont like he guitar later, you can trade, or you can upgrade the one you have, my fender is all hot rodded with pickups and new stuff so now it plays like a more expensive guitar, but ask some other guitarists their opinion, it also depends on the sound you want, fender is more metal then epiphone, and yamahas havent been around that long, so get one that the company knows what they are doing

Epiphone isn't bad. You can get a BC Rich Warlock for around $200, those were made for metal.
