I've known a few guys and girls who've gotten job as waiters or waitresses in the area determined to be discovered. If this works, great for them. In addition to this, and more likely instead of, I would recommend looking at doing some work at one of the many playhouses. Some, if not most, have some connections to some pretty influential people. If you think there is a quick road to fame and fortune you most likely will get taken advantage of and have bad experiences. Be patient and have fun with it and more than anything get to know those in the business.

It is not impossible but very difficult Knowing someone or knowing someone who knows someone seems to be the easiest way. Going to a lot of auditions you might get lucky.

When one sees how hard it is to act, and, become successul, actors tend to drop out and follow other careers.
