....needed to build a home the size that I want. I was looking at http://www.pmhi.com, and their homes look pretty nice. They are Pre-Fab homes, I'm just curious about the quality and reputation of this company and pre-fab homes in general.

In the housing market, you get what you pay for. The prices of prefab homes are more attractive for a reason, and that reason ain't magic. I have visited the site you mention and note that this supplier is NOT a pre-fab home manufacturer. PMHI is apparently a supplier of trusses, wall panels, floor section panels and the like. Unless I am reading this incorrectly, YOU supply the labor to put all of this together. Check it out carefully.

OMG- you can get a conventional block home built for about the price of a pre-fab especially if you own the land-- get a line from the equity in the land to cushion the difference in price. Remember pre-fab is a stick home vs. block. The pre-fab mfgs can put all the cosmetics on the house but it still a stick home, weight out the difference in the HO insurance for a stick home vs. block and you'll see the savings aren't worth it. Not to mention energy efficiency, termite, fire, wind damage, etc...
