Bush wouldn't have done this if it wasn't politically expedient. You're right: all he cares about is OIL - and, frankly Darfur (and the Sudan) have insignificant fields of oil when compared to the rich fields of cheap, easily-accessible OIL in Iraq and Iran. However, the crisis in Darfus is not something that the world can continue to ignore, and - as much as Bush would prefer to ignore it - he can't because of mounting international pressure.
So Bush will make his token effort to make himself and his administration look good in the eyes of the world.
Meanwhile, he will continue to squander TRILLIONS of dollars on a 'war' in Iraq exclusively for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.
Imagine if all those TRILLIONS of dollars had been spent on the poor people of Darfur; the sick, homeless, hungry, disadvantaged, aged, poor, and underprivileged people in the U.S.A.; the serious threat we face because of the depletion of the ozone layer and global warming; helping the Katrina victims; finding a cure for cancer; or rebuilding America's infrastructure! We not only could accomplish ALL of those things, but we could do it and STILL have hundreds of billions of dollars left over!
But, no - "macho man" George W. Bush has squandered American taxpayers' future on an unconstitutional, illegal, and immoral 'war' for which there is no ethical justification.
The beginning of the 21st century, with George W. Bush's corrupt administration at the helm, will mark the end of the United States of America as a world leader and global peacekeeper.
May George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and all 535 members of the most reprehensible, contemptible, incompetent, arrogant, greedy, cowardly, corrupt Republican-led Congress in U.S. history [that turned its back while Bush ran ripshod over the United States Constitution] spend their eternal damnation in the special oil-soaked, blood-stained corner of Hell Satan has surely reserved for them all. -RKO- 05/29/07

no seriously, farmers already get a ton of goverment help. Many farmers get money not to grow plants! Now that is crazy. I will question politians motivation, but darfur is in a crisis... do you want to be known as the generation that couldn't care less because we were alittle annoyed at Bush??

Maybe we should show others what love is and they will pass it on.
Whats wrong with trying to help others? We have politicians, governors, mayors, senators to help solve the problems of this country.
At least he is trying to help.
I looked at the response below, it is sad...no matter WHAT Bush does, liberals will be mad at him.
If he solved the worlds energy crisis and stopped global warming, you all would be mad at him for something.
Grow up. He was elected into office by the PEOPLE.
The people thought he was strong enough to pull this world out of the rut its in...well, he was the right man for the job.
