I have asked that many times how an ancient culture can make a monument that will stand for hundreds or even thousands of years.
Yet with all our technology and advancements, we still cant make a roof that wont leak or a dirveway that wont crack

Long ago either the Early Church or others saw the opportunity to gain control and power if they limited what the population of the time believed. They started to suppress intelligent thought. Not that all were suppressed but the general population as a whole was. Brain washing techniques were used to get everyone to do and think the way they wanted you to. Only select few were able to know more (Like the priests of the temples who knew the secrets that once everyone knew but had later forgotten). That combined with the shout of "witchcraft" every time someone came up with a new idea or something of use, hindered society and made us start to go backwards in many regards. Later, after the development of technology (modern technology, or the rediscoveries of what we were doing in ancient times) took a great leap, but at the same time made us very dependent on it. Our modern conveniences have made mankind as a whole dependent, and if something were to happen that took them all away not many would be able to survive, in my opinion. It's still all a part of the control/power they have managed to keep over the centuries.
We feel and think we are doing many great advances, yet we still can't compare to what the ancients knew and were capable of.

this is going to sound like playing the blame game, but the general disbelief of all these myths by humankind is caused by the advent of christianity.
when christianity became a powerful religion in rome, especially after it was made the official religion by emperor constantine, it signaled the end of these ancient religions. christianity is a monotheistic religion, so all the pagan religions, which are polytheistic, were somewhat stamped out. this included the greek and egyptian gods.
then, along the way, science came along. science only believes in the existence of what it can prove exists beyond a reasonable doubt, although many scientific achievements are rather contradictory of this. so, anything remotely related to the spiritual is spurned by the scientific community.
these two very powerful factors are the reasons why people today discredit what the ancients believed. plus, our human ego also plays a part, because we have to believe that we, as a progressed society, know more than them, and cannot accept their 'outdated' ideas.

Christianity separates science with religion. If you are a man of science than you can't be a good Christian. Churches have the final word. Long long time ago, Christians believed earth was the center of the universe. if you have other ideas, then you are an atheist and punishable by death. There is no intellectual discussion whatsoever. Nobody can do anything if churches were against it. They can't even take a bath if I remember correctly.
However, Muslims embrace science. They have intellectual discussion to explain nature, improve life and be close to god. All their work are still exist and consistent until today and their works were about 1000 year old.
Then, the church erased many of their hard work and for hundred of years, our ancestors lived in dark age.

yeah...the church calls everything that isn't their opinion blasphemy or heresy. Such people were often put tom death. As such, the questioning of these things has become almost non-existant.
Good question. There were many mroe advanced cultures and civilizations that did not believe in christianity. Christianity only came into power at the behest of constantine, who only did it for a quick trip to heaven after murdering his wife and son. This entailed the murdering of the sects of christianity he disagreed with.
This bloody and corrupt entrance of christianity has set the stage for all of this cultural disrespect.
I can't tell you how much crap there is against the incans, mayans and aztecs in the museums owned by the churches. Thes museums don't have Incan artifacts in them and only have painting of trhe natives dressed as european prostitutes (not in culturall garb). The non-church owened museums give a completely different outlook on the cultures of south america.
This is mostly just an example of intolerance of other beliefs and just being a total dick to everyone else (southpark) who doesn't think like you

When I was little, I was tested and found to be a genius. I could read at a fourth grade level by the time I was five and had a better vocabulary then most of my teachers.
I also believed there was a monster under my bed and if I so much as dangled a pinkie over the edge, he would drag me under the bed and do unspeakable things to me.
So with culture, the same thing. Being smart doesn't negate your ability to be wrong. Experience counts as does access to technology. I'm sure that if you brought a Sumarian to the 21st century, got him aclimated then showed him a telescope, he might make some of the same assumptions about the Universe - and his own culture, that we do.

What makes you think of that they have been myths, legends or thoughts? What usually happens is an uncomplicated count of diverse perspectives on an identical journey. I see a rescue and contact it a miracle. you notice an identical rescue and assertion on how fortunate to have the properly suited human beings in the properly suited place on the properly suited time to tug it off. To you it somewhat is explainable. To me, I see a lot of little issues that each and one and all got here at the same time and ascribe that to divine intervention. So it somewhat is with the Bible and different scriptures. it somewhat is a historic previous of events that somewhat occurred yet being instructed from a non secular attitude. The writers observed those events as divine intervention while the worldly human beings clarify all of it away. faith is all approximately faith. in case you do not have faith or attempt to describe faith rationally, without faith, then you definately lose the full essence of religion.

Because we have proof of their architecture skills.
Their Gods & myths on the other hand are just as fictious and irrational as any other set.
