I am going for Biology but I want to become a pharmacist. I know that they have 6 year programs for pharmacy. My question is should I stay and continue getting my Biology degree when I have possibly 2-3 years left or should I go to a pharmacy school? If I do get my bachelors in Biology will that take off of the 6 years I would have to do in a pharmacy school? Any knowledgable advice is appreciated.

Go to the website of the Association of American Colleges of Pharmacy AACP and look over the materials. They have links to every accredited US college of pharmacy. You can check out the schools near you and see exactly how their programs work, what the prereqs are, etc.

Pharmacy is a great career choice, but it is very competitive. And, you need to be very good in chemistry.

The details on the school websites will tell you exactly what courses you need, whether your current courses have given you any advantage, and what prep you need to take the PCAT exam.

Good luck.

well, see if your school offers a pre-pharmacy program . . . chances are, a lot of your classes for bio will go towards a pre-pharmacy degree, then see about getting a Pharm.D. (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/hea/brief/pha_brief.php)

also, 2-3 years left for a biology degree is still a significant amount of time . . . if you really want to do pharmacy, it would be worth it for you to switch to a 6 year program now, before you start getting farther into your bio classes

No 6 year program will accept you know because you have college credit. You should look at the 4 year programs.
