Since the economy was good until the end of the decade many people were able to pursue all kinds of entertainment. Live entertainment was popular, including vaudeville. Even though it was the era of prohibition, drinking was still part of the scene. The flappers were also part of this era and dancing, speakeasies, and singing were popular. College students did goofy pranks like swallowing goldfish and piling people into cars. They also were in fraternities and went to football games. Baseball was the huge summer sport across the US. People vacationed at the beach and at resorts in places like the Catskills and the Adirondacks. After the stock market fell, all the fun ended.

They had no TV or Internet, so they spent more time listening to music and plays on the radio, going to the movies and theaters, going to balls and dancing halls, and meeting people in cafes and bars. And they entertained at home, especially at occasions like baptisms, communions, weddings and funerals. Plus the occasional coctail party, piano recital and house rent party. And they played with cards, mahjhong, and ouija boards.

People acted in silent movies. LOL

People went to movies for fun or they went to watch sports or square dances, or social events such as weddings, christenings, etc.
