Originally, there was a binder where you would sign in and out when delivering to this company. Now they have a computer set up where you touch the screen, and enter your name, your company, delivery or pick-up, and you have to scan your drivers licence. I think that's a violation of privacy. Local shop keepers tried this to help with stopping minors from buying smokes, but the Privacy Commission put a stop to this. What is the law concerning this?

To Dr. Luv: I'm not shopping, purchasing, or anything like that. I'm delivering products that they ordered from us. I'm only entering their premises at their loading dock, and the receiver is there while I unload the stock.

To Artman: No, you have to swipe your Drivers Licence.

You can say no but then they can deny you entry to their premises.

Now to be clear you mean they take a photocopy of your license? I really wouldn't do that for fear to identity theft.

I would show my id and let them write down the driver lic. number (not my SS) but NOT photocopy of it.

As a private company they have the right to do this to track purchases and to prevent identity theft...if you don't want to abide by their procedures then shop with another company..its your choice.

Nope, nothing illegal about it. However, if you ask them not to, then they must comply with your request and make an alternative arrangement.
