River hippos are extremely aggressive and dangerous. They kill more people per year in Africa than all other animals (non reptile or insect) combined.
They are known to trample people and attack boats. The main problem is their size, teeth and strength. A single tusk could slice through a full grown man like it was butter and they can kill you with just one blow of the head. Not to mention they can be underwater and you will not know it, they will rise up and knock over boats and kill people.

Yes very! Apparently they kill more people in Africa than any other animal, I've heard that many times and still cannot believe that is true but apparently it is! Although that shouldn't be so unbelievable as they are huge and have many large teeth and they are also extremely territorial and protective of their young. They can also be lurking in the water and people don't know they are there until it is too late. People probably don't realise they are extremely dangerous as it isn't really drummed into us as children that they are dangerous with huge teeth the way lions and tigers are always portrayed in kids books etc!

Male hippos are very territorial animals and will attack anything that gets too close, including humans and so will a mother hippo protecting her calf. In fact hippos kills more humans than all the land predators combined.

Yes. Hippopotamus are very protective of territory, home range, breeding areas, babies, and mates. Mostly toward other hippos and crocks. You wont see wildlife photographers wondering in amongst hippos. It is one species that continues the thrive in Africa.

yes the most dangerous animal in Africa, because they are loosing habitat all over Africa ,because of expanding Humanity and chiefly because of river basins drying up
That is why they are very agressive

dangerous, tho not aggressive unless provoked--they'd rather not attack you. sometimes they find themselves forced to defend their territory. they are cute, though.....
