No it is good to turn your PC off and give your processor some time off. If you leave it on it is continually hot which if not properly cooled can shorten its lifespan.

It is of course wise to always log out of your system properly.

Not turning your computer off is a myth which started during the early days of personal computers. It is actually better to turn off your computer if you're not using it for an extended period of time such as overnight.

In the early days people would turn off their computers like it was an adding machine, after each use and that was bad.

Turning the computer off while you're away for several hours saves electricity and allows your system to get a fresh load of the operating system when you boot up which generally makes your computer work better.

It is only bad if you turn of your computer manually. To do that on a desk top you press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds. It is a mechanism that they put in computers back in the old days because computers had a habit of locking frequently.
If you have to do this just have your computer run a scan on your hard drive the next time you turn it on. To do this go to your hard drive and select it with your mouses right button and

1 select properties
2 next select error checking
3 select both boxes and click start your computer will ask you if it is OK to do the scan the next time you reboot your PC
