I'm a huge Green Day fan and I get told all the time about how terrible they are. I've heard that they are "scary-looking," "emo," and they "copy off Good Charlotte" Lol, you have no idea how much I laughed when I heard the last one. Anyway, only one person ever gave me a decent reason for not liking Green Day-- he said that they make OK music but are huge sellouts, and have been ever since they released "Good Riddance." I hate to say it, but I can totally see where he's coming from. Last year Billy Joe won an award on the kid's choice awards, and just last week Green Day performed on American Idol. A lot of people don't want to listen to a band that mainstream. Personally, all I really care about is the music they make, and that's why they dominate my iPod.

Everybody has their own taste in music. They would each have their own reason. Some may not DISlike Green Day, they may just be indifferent. If you like them don't worry what others think.

Probably because musical taste is just as personal and individual as any other like or dislike a person has. Why do some people like chocolate and some can't stand it? Why do some people enjoy bright colors and others like to wear black? It's personal taste.

The answer to your question, my dear, is simple: People consider them sell outs. It's a punk rock thing.

Because it just isn't their style of music, honey. I don't think it's anything personal about them. If it is, well, then they have deeper issues than you have the capacity to figure out.
