I keep reading questions/concerns about whether or not women are actually ovulating (when trying to conceive). My question is: Am I definitely ovulating if an ovulation test is positive right around the time that I SHOULD be ovulating? Any chance for false negatives with ovulation tests? Anyone ever heard of that? Thanks, everyone! (I'm asking because I always assumed that if you have your period regularly, then you MUST be ovulating. No?)

You can have a period and not ovulate. It's referred to as an anovulatory cycle. Ovulation tests are accurate when read correctly. But the problem is reading them correctly. Some are difficult to interpret for sure because you need to have a test line that is darker than the control line. Some women have difficulty figuring out what "darker" means.

To be absolutely sure, you should corroborate the ovulation test with a basal body temperature chart and check cervical fluid. For a better explanation of charting, go to www.fertilityfriend.com or www.ovusoft.com

No, women do not ovulate every time you have a normal period, if your predictor test came up positive for the LH surge then you will ovualte with in 24 to 36 hours but if you did not see two lines then are the same darkensss then you have not yet reached your lh surge and you will need to continue testing until you get that. good luck and read the directions on the package, it will tell you all you need to know about the test. ask any doctor to confirm that women in general do not ovulate every month.

If you have a period, then 2 weeks before you started that period, you dropped an egg. Which would be ovulation. I don't know how accurate those tests are, and I don't know how they work. But I do know when I bleed its because an egg didn't get fertilized 2 weeks ago.

So in thirteen days you've got had a interval, ovulated, and gotten two confident being pregnant scan??? It sounds somewhat bizarre to me, however I'm definite it isn't unimaginable. I could wait a pair extra weeks (whilst your interval is think to come back) and take yet another scan. If it's confident at that factor I could move see a Dr. Good good fortune to you :)

If it's positive, then you are ovulating. The LH surge happens rigth before you ovulate, and that's what the test is looking for.
