My biggest problem is: all my video runs slow & looks like garbage. Someone told me that having more memory is the best way to fix things. I've already tried everything possible to get DVDs to play clearer & nothing seems to work.

if they are referring to RAM, then yes, if your hard drive isnt too full, it wont make a big difference, one thing to consider when buying a laptop, is to make sure you have sufficient innards to perform whatever tasks you are using it for, as laptop service can be costly, and even a pain if you do it yourself.

Memory probably makes a bigger difference than any other component in a PC. Going from 512mb to 1gb or even 2gb will make a bigger diference to the average user than going from a 1.8ghz dual core to a 2.8ghz dual core.

You might want to look at your video drivers and codecs.

How old is your laptop and what CPU does it have?

In general, RAM is your friend, you can never have enough.

Be careful, however, to check that your video card or chipset can take advantage of extra RAM...mostly they will. (Assuming you are using relatively up to date equipment)
