Because wal-mart.com is owned by Walmart hence they use it to redirect you to walmart.com
It is common for websites especially big businesses to buy every possible permutation of their domain names to prevent cybersquatting and folks who try to benefit from misspellings of a popular domain name

wal-mart.com and walmart.com are the same but if you work for the company and are looking for the employee's website which is also referred to as just "walmartdotcom" then you need to go to
