Most people dress pretty informal, especially the groundlings.

I went to opening night this year and it was great...cold but great. They rent seat cushions and seat backs there, along with blankets if it's cold. They sell food and drinks, nothing big but enough to keep you from getting hungry. They also have a very nice souvenir shop.

You can message me if you want anymore info.

I think the Globe is a wonderful experience. My advice is to do it as a 'groundling' and get there early so you can get close to the stage (I saw Comedy of Errors last year, resting against the stage, superb), it has to be an evening performance btw. Dress is definitely casual, make sure you have some protection against the rain - although where I was last year the canopy over the stage protected us from the light shower we experienced. There is a gift shop there selling everything from keyrings to clothing.

Eat before you get there - there is a Starbucks opposite, Pizza Express next door and a good Greek restaurant close by - and I would advise you to take bottled water with you.

I'm determined to go again this season, I may have to go a few times as the plays for the season look so good! John McEnery will undoubtedly play a wonderful Shylock (a much underrated actor, imho) and the combination of Eamonn Walker and Tim McInnerny in Othello looks like a real winner.

Enjoy!!
