If is to notice some contributions to our cultural enrichment, fine. Somebody like Einstein or Picasso. But why being obssessed with such bums like Britney Spears, Donald Trump or Pavarrotti and their private lifes?
Is that so "important"? And following all the idiocies they are doing? "Mad" magazine is right in their motto: "The usual gang of idiots". What do you think?

Because so many people do not have a good personal image of themselves and want to live vicariously through somebody else. I wish people would live their own lives and stop worrying about how everyone else lives theirs. Side note: it annoys me that people now more about celebrities then they do about their governmental officials. They can name who Jessica Simpson is dating and who he’s date in the past or they can tell you Berry Bond’s slugging percentage but they can’t name either of their state’s senators or their rep…sad...

I could care about celebs. I live in florida and I see them all the time and I act like I dont even see them. They are soooo annoying.

more people know more about the lives of celebrities and pop culture than they do about politics and world events...and im sure that includes who is running for president and or local elections. sad
