more of the opposite of 'liberal'?

Restrictive "Tending or serving to restrict; limiting."

Conservative "Favoring traditional views and values; tending to oppose change."

"Liberal" is a bit fuzzier in definition. While it implies freedom & a "live & let live" mentality, many liberals are fighting hard to forbid trans fats & such. And a few sites I looks at claimed liberals were for a free market system, that hardly seems the case.

I am more of a "libertarian" - fiscally conservative / socially liberal. Not that my personal beliefs are all that liberal. I just don't think my personal beliefs should be shoved down others' throats!

Conservatives could not accurately be called restrictives. They support a few market system, and an overall smaller government. Perhaps they could be restrictive if it means restrictive of the government.

Why don't we just call the liberals, anti-conservatives? Wouldn't that make it simpler.
