I have an old Mac, the kind with everything is inside the monitor. I get asked for a password to print.?

I just purchased an HP printer and I thoght it was "plug and play", but I get asked for a password when I try to install the printer. How do I get around it. I don't have the mac's install cd, all I have is the printer's install cd. Help!
