"I'm going home for awhile to try and be normal," she said.
This will take a near miracle... I used to feel bad for her and I still do just a little bit... but this woman is totally messed up due in part to the libs and dems..
She goes on and says: "Good-bye America ... you are not the country that I love and I finally realized no matter how much I sacrifice, I can't make you be that country unless you want it."
She sounds like a lib... glass more than half empty... she is giving up on this great country her sons gave his life to defend.
But she also drew criticism for some actions, such as meeting with Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's leftist president.
"I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement," Sheehan wrote in the diary.
Did she think America would continue to embrace her for meeting with terrorists and embracing them?

Here is where the real answer lies:
"However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the 'left' started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used," she wrote in the diary.
I think she finally realized that the Dems no longer had a use for her... her "star" quality had worn off.... and when this happens you find yourself irrelevent... Ask Al gore... (then make up something to get you back in the spotlight)
She gave up her marraige and in my opinion disgraced her son's service. This says it all:
"was that Casey did indeed die for nothing ... killed by his own country which is beholden to and run by a war machine that even controls what we think."
I do feel bad for her to an extent...she was hurt and angry... and used by people only seeking power.
What is your opinion?

FascFiter... I love how you like to assume and put words in my mouth to fit your agenda... how liberal of you. If you don't think Chavez is a terrorist you need to get your head examined. His people live in fear and yes... they magically disapear sometimes. And of course Cindy has the right to go see him... even without my permision... What it does is it shows a lot about her character. She is not a political figure or a diplomat who has to meet with him. She chose to and that will tell you a lot about her. The company you keep is very telling. Oh... and thanks for the childish name calling... it is very revealing about your character as well.

10-T3.... yeah.... like thousands of other Mothers and Fathers who received the horrible news I would have mourned the death of my son or daughter with my family... I would not disgrace it and be used by a bunch of polical hacks... I would not have driven my spouse to of 29 years to divorce... I wouldn't side with evil dictators and I wouldn't claim my hate for this great country or claim that my child gave his life for no reason. Would you?

I always felt bad for her, grief will do strange things to a person...I find it sad that her grief was exploited, but she was an adult and allowed it to happen. I always felt that she dishonored her son's memory with her actions, but I still saw her for what she was...a grieving mother looking for someone to blame.
If you have ever read Norma McCorvey's story (roe vs wade) you will see that she became "no longer useful" and the libs turned on her as well.

What is up with u people?? Why do u love WAR soo much?? This so called war against "terrorism" is killing thousands of innocent people. Sheehan was right, her son did die for nothing. He is not a hero. Why would he be a hero? He was just being used just like all the Americans are now. Can anyone tell me what is the reason of Americans going to Iraq?
No,there is not WMD in Iraq, now u know that, u know that u were lied to...and still u support this war. How can u support attacking a country without any reason and kill innocent people and waste such a large amount of money that comes from your wallet?? I just don't get it. This war is a shame to the civilization. But Sheehan realized that Americans just don't realize it(don't blame the leaders, the leaders just follow the wind). She was right, it is up to you now. Go fund the war and watch people being killed and lives being destroyed. I'm sure you are enjoying it and don't want it to end. I think the problem is that Americans haven't seen war in their land for such a long time that they have forgotten the horrors of war.
People who still support this war are disgrace to humanity.

Why does he "Have to conclude what Bush began?" As one answerer pronounces. Is he now not the present reigning President? Does he now not have the vigor to withdraw troops? What is he completing? Is it the security of blameless men and women (Initiated by way of operations below the earlier president)? This is a practical query. Why is struggle now justified and applicable for the reason that a Democrat is on the helm? The reply is practical. Liberals do what they desire, say what they desire and can difference their evaluations founded at the "Soup of the day." A man or woman asks a reputable query and a liberal solutions it with, "You're a poopie head!"

Vittoria obviously doesn't know anyone who has sacrificied for her freedom to be ignorant enough to say our troops are not heroes!!!!
One of the stages of grieving is anger. If my brother were to die in Iraq when he goes over there at the end of June I would be upset. I think she got swept up in being angry because it was better than feeling the hurt and emptiness of losing a child. She became a political platform -by her own doing and by others - and she never got to grieve her son. I used to be angry at her, "How could she" I thought, "her son died for this country." I am glad that she is leaving....I was worried that she would turn the troops into a political issue like they did when the troops came back from Vietnam. You can't put troops and politics in the same bowl - it's not fair! I hope that people continue to support the troops and leave their baggage at home! If, God forbid, something happens to my brother - I will be proud of his sacrifice and I will not use it as a political platform!

I will say it right now, I am not a fan of her and my voting history would reveal that I am a Republican, albeit an unhappy one at this moment.
With that aside I am sure she is "stepping down" because many people who voted for democrats in this last election are, to say the least, pretty pissed off about the latest Iraq spending bill.
To cite an example: I even saw Ben Affleck calling Democrat Lawmakers "pu$$ies" on Bill Maher yesterday. That is quite a profound statement since Affleck is considered to be an outspoken activist and Democrat as well. They are not alone, many democrats I know personally are very unhappy with this new Democrat controlled congress' track record of late
Although I am sort of relieved she is leaving we cannot forget that people such as her are ultimately good for the balance of things, to make sure we don't just have a bunch of "yes men" running around.
She also might be "quitting" because when she started Bush had pretty much just gotten into office and had high approval ratings. Now with his approval ratings pretty low, it isn't that hard to find people that are unhappy with him (like half of the Republican party, for example), so that might have taken some of the wind out of her sails.

She was tired. I think that she let the spotlight get to her head. She spent time on stage with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and that is the supposed rational leader who came to the UN to call President Bush a "devil".
Kinda miffed that leaders who claim to understand the world call other leaders names like "devil". Kinda loses credibility for them I have to hope.
We should turn Iraq and the soldiers lives lost there into a reason to keep Iran from going nuclear. Their lives will have meaning of we keep WMD from the fanatical Iranian regime and it'll keep American cities safer.

I knew this would happen. As soon as any political party gets done with their stooges, they throw them away. It's just that the Libs are the better ones at doing this. They won their elections last year, now they don't need her anymore.
Were they not parading her around and parading with her just 8 months ago? That is a resounding YES!!!
They did the same thing with their constituents. They promised all kinds of goodies for the left. What have they done? Nothing aside from naming some buildings and a road.
Oh yeah, and a possible minimum wage increase.
BOOOOOOOYEAHHHHHHHHH!!!

I agree with Tom, she was used by her so called "new" friends. Looks like she finally realized that her son Casey knew going in to the service that he could die and she was making a fool of herself by acting the way she did for so long. When I was younger the big deal was to tell or not tell [being homosexual] when they were in the service. One student wrote a paper on this subject and stated - If they are willing to die fighting for me personally I don't give a sh.. if they are gay or not. That was during the Viet Nam War - alot of mothers,
wives, and sisters lost their loved ones and didn't bit.. about it as the young men and women are made to look like they were corwersted in to signing up.

Who ever said Cindy Sheehan was "the face" of the anti-war movement? I have been opposed to the War in Iraq from day one, and I certainly didn't need a grieving mother like Cindy Sheehan who lost her son in a senseless war, to convince me. We are all being used. The American public was used and abused, and thus convinced to support a war that is costing $2 Billion per week. In case you are not good at math, that is approximately 300 Million dollars per day. Something doesn't quite add up here. Cindy Sheehan is a non-issue.

I could of, but she used her sons sacrifice to be HER 15 minutes of fame and that to me was the end of any sympathy. Used or not a lot of mothers have faced this horror of loosing a son and didn't turn on the very country that their son died for. No, I think she's all about herself and I hope she see's what she has done and try to do some good now.
