Stupid question #1 Sometimes I can't help but wonder, if the norse gods and the greek gods got into an all out war what would happen. Who do you think would come out victorious?Keep in mind they can use all resourse availible to them, like although loki is obviously Odins enemy for the sake of arguement, in this case he's working with them. Same thing gose for the titans. The norse dieties can call upon elves and such as the greeks can have the nymphs join them. Be creative on the WHY part of your answer please!

retarded question # 2 My bf insist that superman is stronger than the greek gods. I've tried to explain to him that since our culture is much more advanced, we can exagerate things out of proportion more so than the ancient greeks. Superman went out into space and made the earth spin bacwards only because we know, what exaclty a planet is now. What do you think?

Person with most, interesting answers for both gets 10pts!
GOOD LUCK :D

all things being equal, the Norse would win, but, the battle would never end, so there would be no winners. They are both immortal. No one would die, but the Norse love a battle much more than the Greeks.
the second question... tell your boyfriend to read more. There is NO WAY superman (who we must assume was created by the deities in question) could ever defeat them. He is mortal, can die and would die. Zeus would just call up some kryptonite and weaken him (painfully mind you) and then zap his arrogant butt. ( hey i like superman too, but not over my Gods!)

1. Well Greek Gods are immortal..... They cannot be wounded battle nor can they bleed nor can they die. But the Norse Gods were mortal who were given chance to eat a fruit to give them eternal life. Besides as you can see the Norse Gods even if powerful cannot defeat the immortal Titans.
Another thing is that even if the Norse summons all their followers, elves and every single Norse creature they can.... Hades can summon an army larger than any other, the Dead.

2. Okay Again with mortal and immortal thing. Superman is a mortal and Greek Gods are immortal. Superman has to fly out into space just to make earth rotate while the Titan Kronus who is actually associated with time can do that as easily as breathing.

First of, Superman did NOT make the earth spin backwards, rather, he flew so fast, that HE went back in time, so of course it appears to spin backwards... like the hands on a clock. (sorry, a personal pet peeve)
Okay, Norse or Greek? Without a doubt, Greeks! The Greek gods are immortal, were as the Norse gods days are numbered, they plan on the day they will all die anyway (Ragnarok) And although Norse gods are giant killers, if you let the Greeks have the Titans, No contest, Greeks!
Also (hate to net pick.) but, Loki was Odin's/Woden's best friends and they fought together on a number of occasions... That's why he's even aloud in Asgard.
(Your questions aren't 'stupid', I loved them!)
also, Superman gets his 'strength' from the sun, NO SUN? NO SUPERMAN! Atlas doesn't need the sun to hold the whole planet on his shoulders...
Thanx

I'm gonna have to disagree with the crowd here and say Norse. The Norse were pretty dedicated to warfare, and their gods showed it. Not to say that the Greeks didn't couldn't hold their own in a fight, but it wasn't as big a deal to them. The Norse Gods were designed for *** kicking, the Greeks were more about good stories. The Olympians would all be hangin' around drinkin' with Bacchus, and suddenly Thor would show up with a big hammer and just start bashing people.

And Superman vs. a deity is silliness. Seriously, super strength doesn't even compare to holding the entire world on your shoulders.

The Greeks would win, simply because there are more named gods and goddesses, and with people knowing their names or believing in them, their strength is increased. Elves would be no problem, since satyrs and naiads would be just as skilled. The Norse have no ocean deity and no sun deity so Poseidon and Helios could really wreak havoc.

As for Superman, again we are looking at one being against numerous others. Superman made time turn back--Atlas would resist any effort to turn the world back (and scientists have concluded that turning the earth back would wobble it off its axis and cause it to disintegrate) and Helios would probably burn away any danger to the earth.

I think the greek gods would win because they had stronger allies ,the eastern gods of egypt, persia and mesopotamia and the later gods. All of these gods were mixed through the centuries. For example,if you were from alexantria in the year 50 BC you could believe in a greek god,a roman one and an ancient egyptian. Moreover greeks had many mythic personalities who were very strong too like hercules and strange really tough monsters like the monsters that hercules killed.

For the superman question ,i don't really know because the goods as I said were many and as the questioner said we can have a better variety of powers for a modern superhero. But definately superman could easily take one or two of them.

You're NOT going to like this answer BUT, here goes anyway. The Greek Gods ARE the Norse Gods, ARE the Celtic Gods, ARe the Roman Gods, ARE the Hindu Gods, ARE the Chinese Gods, etc etc. The Gods ALL had the same roles and functions in every society that ever named them. The only difference is the society that named them assigned that particular name to a certain God who fulfilled a certain role. Even the Islamic-Judeo-Christian God, Jehovah, who is all of them rolled into one was named by the society that worships him. So, for Odin to be fighting Apollo would be like you trying to fight with yourself. You'd BOTH win AND lose. This is a totaly pointless discussion that, in truth, is offensive to those very gods that you would have fighting amongst themselves. To say nothing of the followers of any or ALL of those Gods and Goddesses.

My personal belief is that the Norse gods and goddesses would win.....don't really care about the 10 points, just wanted to point out something to Jess.........

The Norse Pantheon does include gods of the sun and sea! Aegir rules the sea with his wife Ran, and Sunna is goddess of the sun. See the link for a much longer list of Norse gods and their functions.

As for question #2....the gods of Greece (and Rome) had the ability to make a mortal immortal.......could Superman do that?

Ancient or newest myths are a synthesis of reality, emotions and fantasy.
