Question about sitcom Friends?

Ok I know that Ross, Monica, Chandler and Rachel knew each other from the past, when did Joey and Phoebe come into the group?

Phoebe was Monica's roommate. Never really says where they met. Joey became the roommate of Chandler by answering an ad in the paper.

Phoebe and Monica were roommates, they never talked about how that came about, but that is how Phoebe became a "friend". Chandler placed an add in the paper for a roommate and Joey answered the add. Joey was one of two potential applicants for Chandler's roommate, but Chandler picked the other guy who was a photographer with lots of model friends that might come over to the apartment. Mr. Hinkle (the crazy man who lived right below Monica's apartment) walked into Chandler's apartment right before the photographer was to move in and told the photographer that he was Chandler's new roommate and the photographer left. When Chandler thought the photographer had backed out, he called Joey and they became roommates.

JOEY ANSWERED CHANDLER'S AD FOR A NEW ROOMMATE AND THEN MOVED IN WHEN ERIC, THE GUY WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO MOVE IN, GOT SCARED OFF BY MR HECKLES (WHO TOLD HIM THAT HE, HECKLES, WAS CHANDLER'S NEW ROOMMATE). I DON'T KNOW HOW PHOEBE CAME INTO THE PICTURE BUT SHE USED TO ROOM WITH MONICA.
