I like it. I know it sounds like a boy's name, but it was my mom's maiden name & none of the other grandkids in the family (she has 4 brothers with kids) are named Kirby, so I've always said if I ever have a kid - boy or girl - I would name him/her Kirby. I've thought of Kirby LeeAnne for a girl and John Kirby for a boy.

Kirby is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "settlement by a church". Not exactly feminine, or even nice.
That said, I love the name Kirby for a girl. It sounds terrific, and when I was in school, Cindy Kirby was crowned Miss California.
But I wouldn't saddle a girl with it these days. Kids can be cruel, and when she is young kids will associate her name with Kermit the frog, and when she gets older, heaven help her if she gains any weight, they'll call her a vacuum cleaner.

My sister has a friend named Kirby (girl). I think it's cute! But it'll never become a common name. She doesn't get picked on for being a vacuum or Nintendo character, but still..

Kirby is too much of a boys name for me. Spell it Kirbee or Kirbey to make it more feminine.

oh lord
Please don't. There are so many pretty names to choose from, don't do this to a baby.
I've already thought of like 3 dirty jokes; Kirby is a definite no no.
