Seems to me he couldn't use more than one power at a time and if he couldn't control the other one then he couldn't fly.

That's a good question. Maybe since the asplosion power was already in effect, he couldn't get enough control over himself to fly.

I was wondering that myself...I was thinking he could have flown into space, exploded, then healed himself, and flown back down to earth.
I suppose that would have been far too easy, and wouldn't have allowed for the drama!
