I would write this story as fiction even though some of it isnt because of obvious reasons.
It would be a story about a guy who finds some information in the basement of his Aunt's house in Memphis. This information would show that a member of his family was connected to a very secret but powerful racist organization. This info would show a link between the deaths of Martin Luther King and Elvis Presley. Both of these cultural Icons died in memphis only a few miles from each other. This story would show what really happen and who was really behind it.

The basic idea of the story sounds appealing, but if you are going to reference real people, you will really need to do some history research and cross referencing. I think if you can pull history linkage, credible backup, and historical examples that a person reading the story would be very intrigued in this type of book. I do not, however, feel that Elvis would be a substantial key death. If you are looking to involve these two personas because you have a great interest in them (as your readers would then, we can presume) then you may want to think of another way of entangling them. From there, you can create your aunt/nephew/discovery scenerio around them to mistify the enraveling of the secret!

sounds interesting. i don't see where elvis comes in though. I think your book would be great if maybe the aunt dies and her twenty year old neohew is to clean the basement, where he discovers proof that his family was member of a racist organization.
It is a great idea, and you should follow through with it. : )

Elvis Presley actually stole black people's music to become famous so I don't think you should use his name in the book. Other than that, it sounds like a good idea. Go for it.

A better question would be, "Can I write this book?"

After all, if you can write the book, then, of course, you should write the book. Whether or not anyone "should read this book" will be entirely up to you.

If you do plan to write this book, set aside the next two to three years or your life. Good luck!

I skimmed the story, and my answer is going to be indifferent to it: There is no reason to not write any story. I think you should write it. I'm not even saying I liked the premise or didn't but I always encourage people to write and read no matter what-WRITE IT! Afterwards, there's no saying it will get published but there's no reason not to write it!

You can write about absolutely anything you so choose. Creative license and all that. It sounds interesting enough to me. If you have a desire to write it, then by all means, write on!
