I'd like an objective answer. I dislike Clinton, but I don't really have any good reason. I'll admit that, apart from the Lewinsky scandal, I don't know enough about him to say I dislike him as a president.

So, I want to know, from liberals especially, what he did that made them like him. No animosity and no flames please. I'm not looking for reasons to dislike him unless there are good reasons.

Whatta ya got?

The Lewinsky scandal wasn't just a side note to me. I have problems with both sides. For one, it was a conservative witch hunt. The notion that no other president has ever done anything that despicable is kind of ridiculous. However, Clinton, a lawyer, lied under oath to a grand jury. If he had owned up to it I could respect the man. But lying is child's play. A grown, mature adult should be held to higher standards, regardless of who else has done it before him. For me, his lying under oath undermined every single other part of his administration that might have given him credit. That, I realize, is the only reason I have for disliking him.

I think the right-wing moral outrage had more to do with his politics than their values.

Clinton was immensely popular because he improved our economy and our standing in the international community. As far as politics go, he was more centrist than liberal, although few righties will cop to that.

He had his faults, like we all do. But his is an extremely intelligent man and a good leader. He also surrounded himself with extremely intelligent and competent people.

Clinton dismantled the military, lied to the grand jury, did little about terrorism, and built up thicker walls between intelligence agencies. He was a good speaker and was very charismatic. He had a great economy, but he had nothing to do with it. Welfare reform was passed under him and the budget was balanced. This was due more to Republican pressure than anything Clinton actually did. We can also thank him for the higher gas prices. Tougher laws were passed closing down older refineries and tougher EPA laws caused the cost of maintaining refineries to increase. He is also responsible for the N. Korea problem that we face today. All in all, Clinton was a horrible president more concerned about his sex life and money than he was about our country.

People can say what they want to now but during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal I was teased and harassed mercilessly online by foreigner's making fun of our embarrassment of a president...These were not political chats either...It upset me that I had no defense for him as my president....he was NOT loved world wide as some will now claim...he was Mocked world wide...and as a result so were Americans.
Thats just reason #1 there are so many reasons that I couldn't possibly list them all...

1. I believe President Clinton was instrumental in resolving the war in the Balkens without the loss of one American life.

2. He increased the military budget from what was left from the Bush 1 Administration.

3. He got blamed for the mess in Somalia; i.,e., 'Blackhawk Down' . I believe he was blamed unfairly because the issue was started during the Bush 1 Administration. The military had limited resources encamped a distance from the village where the enemy was encamped. The Military Commander there did not ask for additional forces. That's when a number of servicemen got killed. I believe about 18 men were killed. This occurred shortly after Clinton took office. Colan Powell left without briefing the new oncoming Clinton Administration.

4. The budget under President Clinton was in the best shape in decades and showed a surplus when the currant Bush 2 Administration took office.
Thanks

The Budget surplus was fictitious, the Man lied about that too, He counted s.s. not once but twice as being in the general fund, It's not supposed to be there at all let alone twice, so much for the budget.
along with bombing aspirin factories in the mid-east "to combat terrorism" He gave Bin-Laden all he needed to hate US more, the down sizing of our military was shameful, worst of all He was the most anti-second Amendment president in US History, the "assault weapons ban"(thank Bush that's gone) outlawed guns that are NOT assault weapons.
If you need proof that the man was a fat lier just look at His first run "I smoked pot, but I didn't inhale" give me a break any pot smoker will tell you that's not possible, you don't smoke pot like you smoke cigarettes when you toke you inhale!!!!
His perverted behavior brought disgrace the office and to our Nation!!!!!!!!
He lied to his wife, any man that lies to his wife will lie to anybody else!!!!
Clinton was a hillbilly Nazi scumbag and his wife is even worse!!!!

Well, Clinton was just a smart guy. He was a pretty efficient president. Yeah, some of his policies were flawed, but whose isn't. If that Lewinski cloud wasn't hanging over his Presidency, I personally don't see why anyone would love to hate the guy. Many poor/middle class people like him because he epitomized the "All American Dream" He symbolizes it. Dirt poor, with an abusive step father and walking barefoot on dirt roads to being president. Not to mention his charisma. He has a presence that draws people in and he was generally a good President. You may not like him, but I hope people can at least respect him.

The Lewinsky scandal is reason enough for me to dislike Clinton. I also dislike him for his "Dont ask, don't tell policy" about gays in the military. This policy has caused the military big money and caused many problems. Also, telling lies is a way of life with Clinton.

I am not republican or democratic which is apart of our problems...neither can get on the same page.

I do want to say here that Clinton do anything that other Presidents did. Kennedy boys had mistresses alot and others too!! So let the Lewinsky thing die please.

At least Clinton balanced the books!! And...his wife tried to get Universal insurance but the lobbyists wouldn't have it for it is all about money. Now we have soooo many people without insurance and are desperate.

Aside from Lewinsky? How about doing the same with other women before presidency, let the WTC be attacked several times during his presidency, had many chances at getting Bin Laden, commited Perjury, and who knows how many more things he did.

Just to clear up some of these answers: Clinton didn't let Osama plan 9/11 and he didn't do nothing. Clinton had a long history of fighting terrorism and rogue nations like Iraq. He especially went after Bin Laden on multiple occasions and even gave Bush a report of everything he had done and his plan for the future (he did this as he left office). But Bush ignored this report.
