I would go for a gift card to someplace like Old Navy, Macy's or Best Buy.
You can purchase $25.00 amounts on the cards. :)
This way she'll be able to choose and pick whatever she likes with the money. She'll also be happy with whatever she gets, since she directly chose it herself.

What does your friend like?
Would she be surprised or shocked by your arranging a picnic with more of your friends (get OR MAKE her a cake) - and go somewhere unexpected - I'm also not talking fast-food here!
Would she rather have the money - to allow her to get something she wants.
If you're struggling with this, ask her or your mum for suggestions - between the two of you, I'm certain you'll come up for something that you can share and really enjoy together (other friends could come too - the more the merrier).

I'd get her a $25 gift certificate for the mall you guys love to go to... That way she can spend on anything and any store she wants. Even at the food court/ movies... Go to the mall's customer service center.
Very effective, simple and to the point. I'm sure she will love it. Your girl friend will be able to get whatever she wants.

If she has like an ipod or something than something like an itunes card. If I was to pick the present though, i would definitely go with a gift card.

gift cards are good.
look for a local american eagle, aeropostle, rave, buckle, wet seal, rue 21 etc and get a 25 or 30 dollar gift card.
gift cards always work.
