You need to log into your router and enable the wireless security. either WEP or WAP. You will then input a security key in the appropriate area on the same page.

You will then need to input that same security key on every computer in your household that connects to your router wirelessly. You will only need to do this the first time as the password will be saved on the computers after that.

Depending on the manufacturer of the router there are different ways to go about it. The easiest way is to look for WEP Encryption. Turn it on and follow the prompts to set it up on the router.

You will have to write down the WEP Security Key and setup each computer that will be accessing the router with the same key. Only computers with that key will be able to access the router and therefore the network and Internet it is attached to.

Check the web page of your router manufacturer for more detailed information.

Details should be there in the user manual for the modem. Basically you need to set up the security the modem settings. Modem settings can be accessed by typing the IP of the router on your web browser address bar. IP of your router should also be specified in the manual.
