He's making a bad joke

Well it probably means we are married to the same person; But "no" seriously, are you 2 arguing alot, is he unhappy? does he say things like that often? if so, then maybe he's feeling guilty about something or maybe he feels you 2 have grown apart.. See if he will talk to you seriously about your marriage with out yelling and arguing.. If that works, GREAT. But if not then you have bigger problems than him cracking jokes about an expiration date? Do what feels right in your heart and good luck to U!

Just tell him that it expires the very same date his birth certificate does

Usually it is a joke! Obviously there is no expiration date on it. If he is saying it in a joking manner just go along with it and tell him that there isn't one and he is stuck with you. If it is said during a real argument (not a playful argument) then it is a threat of divorce! If it really bothers you then tell him that it does and tell him why it bothers you.

My husband and I are constantly joking about the expiration date. It's just a joke - to us, and for you I hope.

We also joke aorund about trading up for a new model.

If your marriage is happy - and you and your husband are happy - than it is probably safe to assume he is joking.

Next time he says that - tell him you found it!

Sorry, there's not an expiration date on marriages unless he's looking for a way out.:(

Expiration date of marriage certificate? I didn't know they had one.

I would think he's joking.

Unless... are you already married? I know in my state (Arizona), you go to the court house and request a license to marry, then you have six months to marry before you have to go get another license.

He's playing mind games with you (hopefully he's just kidding!) Marriage certificates aren't like milk...there is no expiry date listed on the side.

Sounds like he wants the marriage to expire soon so he can leave you ASAP.
