Just a few minutes ago i was taking my nephew (he is 2 months) out of the car and i unlocked the car seat and pull it out. The handle was in the upright position so i thought it was locked nut it wasn't! The seat leaned over while i held it by the handle and he fell out and landed on the parking lot floor. There was no sound of him hitting he didn't cry till i held him. I have never been so scared before. He only cried for a few minutes but i want to know if it's gonna be ok. My sister says he'll be fine but i just need to hear it from someone else. Does anyone have any feed back on the matter?

Accidents do happen, and he's probably fine, but you should call his doctor to make sure.

This accident was 100% preventable. A baby who is in a car seat should ALWAYS be buckled in. There is never any reason for the buckles to be open. Even a baby who is very young can squirm their way out of a car seat and fall.

Now you know; hopefully, you'll be able to prevent it from happening in the future.

Anytime an infant takes a fall, you want to watch for a few things that could be a sign of a concusion or even nerve damage. Infants do not typically cry when injured or sick. Crying is usually a sign that everything is ok.

Things to watch for, including but not limited to...

Vomiting. Irregular breathing. Extreme swelling or knot on the head where the soft spot is located. Unable to keep eyes straight(lazy eye). Continuous blank stare, won't blink, unresponsive to stimulus. Extreme sleepiness (most babies sleep alot, but you should be able to rouse them awake). Abnormal shaking or figgiting in the extremities (nerve damage). Facial expressions that only seem to affect one side of the face.(nerve damage)

Remember that babies are lighter than you and I. They are also more flexible. When they take a fall, gravity has less of an impact on them, than it would on you and I. Remember when you were a kid you basically could bounce off of the ground....now you might break your back doing a cartwheel. Of course it does matter how you fall, not just from what height. The main areas that are most vulnerable is the neck and head. At two months their skulls are not yet hardened fully and their spine is tender. An infant can get a concusion with just a mild bounce on the head or nerve damage by shaking. If your sure that the child did not strike the ground with their head, then they're probably ok.

If you are unsure and still worried, call a physician.
If you see and can verify any of the signs I mentioned above, go to the emergency room immediately via ambulance.

With a 2 month old, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Take him to a doctor and make sure that everything is fine.

He should be fine but I would take him to the doctor's just to make sure and so that you can feel better about the situation. It is NOT your fault that this happened so don't blame it on yourself. Getting an opinion from a professional will reassure you that he is just fine.

Your sister needs to get that baby checked out. At that age it is pretty easy for them to get a concussion. Better safe than sorry so get to the doctors office ASAP

Dont worry. I drop my son in a parking lot while he was in his car seat. He cried for awhile and he only had a couple of stratches on his head.

I would just really watch him... if he seems to act any different I would take him to the emergency room. Like if he is cranky, not eating, fever, etc. I am sure he will be ok... good luck!!
