New moves in Tendulkar row
The saga of Sachin Tendulkar's Ferrari sports car has taken another twist
The car, worth 7.5m rupees (£103,000) was presented to the Indian Test star last year by Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher.
But its arrival in India has proved an embarrassment for Tendulkar, who has found himself caught up in a row over import taxes.
Fiat, who own Ferrari, have now offered to pay the 11 million rupees (£144,000) customs duty.
But the local authority in Bombay, also called Mumbai, now plans to levy an entry duty or octroi of 500,000 rupees (£6,800) for bringing it into the city.
A hearing is ongoing at the High Court in Delhi after the Indian Government's decision to waive the customs duty in recognition of the "glory" Tendulkar has brought to India was challenged.
The decision caused controversy because some people believe that as one of the richest Indians, Tendulkar should pay the tax.
But he argues that other Indian cricketers have received similar concessions in the past.
Fiat's move offers a face-saving way out for both sides, and it is believed they also offer to pay the Mumbai entry duty as well.
Tendulkar, meanwhile, is currently training with the Indian squad in Bangalore ahead of a Test series against New Zealand in October.
The 30-year-old is ready to make his comeback to international cricket after undergoing finger surgery in the US earlier this year.
He is ranked among India's greatest ever players, having scored 8,811 Test runs and more than 12,000 in one-day internationals, since making his debut as a 16-year-old in 1989.

The meeting was arranged by Fiat, whose brand Palio is endorsed by both Schumacher and Tendulkar.

I think Schumacher drives those flimsy little needles on wheels but who the **** is Sachin Tendulkar? I guess it is probably rude to answer a question with a question, but ask a stupid question...
