Read some classic British literature like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (my personal favorites!)...those books are 'clean', have plenty of romance and suspense. This type of reading will stay with you more than a cheesy harlequin novel...

Stephen King has fun reads, and I noticed some books at Barnes & Noble the other night in the summer reading section...I think they are called the gossip girl series...so if you want something light, that might be the way to go.

Forever Amber is an historical novel (about 1000 pages) and The Virgin Blue by Tracy Chevalier are pretty good as well.

Try anything by Nicholas Sparks. He is the one that wrote The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle. He is a wonderful writer and I don't think there are too many things in there that are too adult for you.

You could also try The Face on the Milk Carton, Twisted Sisters, or Now That Andy's Gone. Those were really good reads for me when I was younger. I also liked To Kill A Mockingbird. The Outsiders is really good too.

Hope I've helped. :o) Have a good break, and HAPPY READING!!

Well I'm not a big reader, but my sister is. She's 15 and I'm only 13. My suggestions are to set up a time frame. If you really love reading, spend 3-5 hours of reading a day. You can split up the hours throughout the day. This is actually proven and it will help you remember more of what happens in the book; reading in the morning, and then at night. Any questions? email me at basketballbuddy4@yahoo.com

You could read classics like The Great Gatsby, Ovid's Metamorphoses, Shakespeare, To Kill a Mockingbird, Death of a Salesman, anything by Toni Morrison, Frost, Yeats, the list goes on. (It'll help too for high school and college). Perfection Salad is a good sociological book on women and cooking. And Friday Night Lights is a good sociological one on the culture in western Texas (better than the TV show). And The Princess Bride for fun.

If you like horror, I would suggest checking out Anne Rice and Stephen King.

From Stephen King:
Cell
The Dark Tower Series (7 books)
The Shining
Carrie
Cujo
Bag of Bones

From Anne Rice:
Blood and Gold
Interview With the Vampire
The Vampire Lestat

The new Harry Potter book is coming out, definitely on my list for the summer. Umm.... I started reading Dorothy Garlock books when I was about your age and still enjoy them. Check out Sharon Sala and Julie Garwood as well, they write some pretty good suspense books that aren't too gory or explicit... I like all these author's books, so don't really want to single out one or two titles. Have a good summer!

I just love Stephen King. Rose Madder is a great one. And The Eyes of the Dragon. And his Dark Tower series is really good too. But if you want to read 100 books, you might want to pick some pretty short ones! haha
The Midnight Club by Christopher Pike is EXCELLENT too!

OMG I love ttyl! Don't say you moved on from that book...and I'm 13 too. Gee...I think you're like beyond my reading level.

I heard that Steven King writes good books, and that "The Apt Child" is good...Go Ask Alice (which is an anonymous author) is a good book...and of course the Outsiders by SE Hinton.
