It won't stop her period. If she wears pads, she shouldn't be going into the water. If she uses tampons, she's ok to go in the water.

Getting in the water can help ease the flow of a period, it usually does for me. However, as soon as she gets out it can/will start back up again and she'll have to get out for some things I'm sure as another person answered.
A pad will get soggy like a child's diaper.
The best course of action is to wear a tampon, and change it in the bathroom often (just like you would any other time).
If she is not comfortable wearing a tampon then not going on the trip is the only way to avoid any embaressment that might happen.

It won't stop her period. The only way to make it 100% OK is for her to use a tampon. If she's not bleeding very heavily - well, if it really is light - she'll probably manage all right if she's not in for too long and is wearing reasonably solid swimwear (not the very flimsiest thinnest thing out). Tampons really are the answer, but if she's not used them before she should get something that is as small as possible and practise beforehand.

I have done this while swimming. But this was when I was just starting or just ending-where the flow was lite. However, I used a tampon for the heavy flows. Usually my periods were the first day lite days 2-3 heavy day 4 lite.

Well if she uses a tampon it should solve the problem, but if she doesn't use them, it most likely wont stop if she goes in the water. I went to water world, and I was on mine and it was the first time I had used a tampon, and it worked. I hope I helped. =]

It depends how many days she's been on it. If it's in the middle or close to the end, she can go in without a tampon. besides, it takes a lot of blood to dye the water red even a bit. (i know from experience) but if it's her first couple of days, use a tampoon

If your friend wants to go into the water she should use a tampon.. Pads might soak in the water and cause a big mess...

she shouldn't just make sure she wears a tampon. going into nice cool water during your period is a good idea it makes the flow a lot slower and helps as far as cramps and bloating goes, so have fun.

Well she's not going to be in the water the whole time, you have to get out sometime for certain things, like food, bathroom, walking, etc. so to be on the safe side DEFFINITELY! wear a tampon!

you need to wear tampons if getting in the water. it is nasty and likely an embarrasing mistake if one gets into the water wearing a pad with your period. its like a baby wearing a soggy dirty diaper in a public pool.
