I'm not from L.A., I live up north in the fresno county area, and it is so warm up there where you can wear shorts and short sleeves all day long and not worry about it being cold later. As for down in L.A., it's windy and cloudy, and overall not warm. It's still cold out to where you have to put a sweater on (for some, i know I do). But others don't seem to be phased by this, i come from where it's warm at this time, and it's not the weather of choice.

This is our June gloom. It starts in May and last through the end of June. It occurs because the deserts heat up faster than the coast in late spring. This desert heating causes rising air and that air is replaced by air coming from the coast. This brings air that has been sitting over the ocean and thus cooled below its dew point causing fog to form. As this fog flows over the coastal plain the ground heats it somewhat so that there isn't fog at the ground. As the day warm and heats the air above the dew point this fog/low clouds retreats back to the coastline.

It is the low humidity and that allows the temperature to drop at night very quickly.

This is typical. I don't like it either.
