Yes. Lots of construction work in Vancouver! Just getting ready for the 2010 Winter Olympics has lots of transportation development, venue renovations and construction. And I read somewhere a couple of months back that Olympic related construction was actually a small fraction of the work.

In my region, Vancouver Island, there is still a housing construction boom. some areas are stagnate for housing, but some are a bit cheaper land prices and still booming. Lots of retirement homes going up. Even if not in Vancouver area, it means no extra labour going in to fill Vancouver jobs from many areas of BC.

There is work, I don't know about how you go about qualifying.

lots but you will need a work visa... nearly impossible to get a job in vancouver without one...

if you get a working visa, you'll have a job the same day you step off a plane
