to drive in the passing lane of the freeway if you are not in fact passing?
This is true...and you can be ticketed...my friend just got her first one of those citations a few weeks ago. There was nobody in the right lane, she was just cruising around in the left lane. and there went the lights and sirens!!1
My brain is on traffic today apparently.

Was she speeding in the passing lane with nobody in the right lane or was she just driving? The passing lane doesn't give you the right to speed just for the sake of speeding.

Don't you mean 'four lane highway'? Most freeways around here are 6-8 lanes. Which one would be for passing???

Yes, but people don't care. The only time anyone is ticketed for doing that is when a cop wants to get by. I don't know how some people pass the test to even get their licenses.

Usually it's a good idea to obey those signs on the side of the road, like: speed limit, no passing zone, yield, and keep right except to pass.

Yes. It is a passing lane; not a "fast lane."

No i didnt know.
but just about everything is illegal, mainly so that a cop can pull you over in case they suspect something but you are speeding and so forth, whether or not they give you a ticket is a totally differnet story,.

GOOD! I wish they would enforce that more. I am so sick of cruisers hanging out in the left lane.

I think it depends on the state. That's pretty much ridiculous. Everyone drives wherever they want to where I'm from.
