Coin currency was used first in China, if that is what you mean as Money, through history Currency has been lots of things from commodities such as gold nuggets, grain, cattle , sheep, tools or implements. The Chinese were first to implement an national currency where the money was transportable and equally traded for value, as our money does today

Before then, currency was not available yet since payment methods included farm animals, valueable goods such as gold, jade, silk, and for a time, slaves. But as time came and went, coins began to replace those methods. Later, paper currency was used to make carrying large payments easy.

Having objects that are traded on a standardized scale for labor or other objects goes way back, there are biblical references and evidence from ancient digs and it seems that every culture has some sort of money whether it be precious metals, gems, printed money, beads or even shiny shells. I don't see any definitive answer to your question. the answer is as ambiguous as "who first used fire"
