It would depend on how different they were.

A radical Conservative Christian married to an ultra progressive liberal absolutely would not work. Those kinds of people have completely different lifestyles, not just different political views.

Now a moderate Dem with a moderate Con would work. My dad and stepmom are proof. They've been married for 23 years.

I don't know. I didn't have to make that choice...my wife has never really been political and just voted for the person she liked the best. I guess I was lucky to have that...however if I had to think about it......I probably wouldn't, I am to angered by political views.

If only it were that simple...your political view is often reflected in your day to day life through choices...that can cause major conflicts in a marriage...for example if the husband were conservative and the wife more liberal and she decided to get an abortion...or even just how the children are raised (bedtime prayer's etc..)...if was a simple matter of who to vote for then you could easily say yes...but like I said...it's more complicated than that...

No.....there are 2 things you should never discuss, politics and religion. Heck, I can't even talk to my parents about either without there being a BIG Fight. I can not imagine if I couldn't leave and go to my own home when those arguments break out. People are pretty passionate about their beliefs in both of those topics. When people are passionate about things they defend their beliefs to the end. There are plenty of things you will fight about as a married couple and giving there is such passion in politics be careful. Good Luck!

It relies upon on the temperaments of the two certainly one of you. some human beings substitute into very offended whilst they disagree approximately politics. i understand an old couple who've been married very nearly 50 years, and have opposite political critiques, and that they agreed to no longer argue approximately them, and that they snicker on the subject of the particular undeniable fact that they cancel out one yet another's votes each and every election, so it may paintings out, yet once I have been you, i might make that settlement to no longer argue approximately politics until now you marry, or perhaps substitute into too severe.

I wouldn't get married ever. My girlfriend and I have 2 kids and are fine without a piece of paper to say we are together. Neither of us have any political affiliation so it is perfect. My parents were married and got divorced when I was five. I don't see the point in it.

No. And as a divorce attorney, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who holds serious political views.

There are plenty of people who hold nominal political views that can probably make a "mixed" marriage work. Those of us who hang out here? Probably a bad idea.

No way. It's just as bad as marrying someone outside your religious beliefs. Both people would have to be very well grounded to do so. My hat is off to Mary Mattlin!

Been there, done that, got a divorce. It wasn't just the politics but we were on opposite ends of the spectrum and he wouldn't even consider the government may have made a mistake.
