since each web is unique and different can they be saved in some way

Never thought about it, but what I would do is get two plates of glass or plexiglass and sandwich the web inbetween them while the web is still inplace. That should keep it in it's original form.

Use an Ultra-violet (black light) lamp and a halogen bulb to make a lasting shadow on the wall. so even if the web is gone the imprint of the web's shadow will always be there. (given the wall is light in color)

Use a good digital camera and down load them to a file. Be sure to include a scale or ruler for reference in the shot.

I've squirted them lightly with spray paint and then gently laid a piece of colored paper under them to catch them on the paper.

It looks pretty cool.
