“The people can always be brought
to the biddings of leaders. That
is easy. All you have to do is tell
them they are being attacked,
And denounce the peacemakers
for lack of patriotism and exposing
The country of danger.
The works the same in any country.”

IF you think this is important - that people now? Pass it on!

"There is but one way to know the truth, and that is not a golden one.
It is fraught with toil and sacrifice and perhaps ridicule. The seeker
of the truth must be fearless, he/she must not be afraid to enter the
innermost holies of holies, and to tear down the veils of superstition
that hang about any human and so-called divine institution. It is the
truth that makes men & woman free. If the truth tears down every church and
government under the sun, let the truth be known and this truth only
will be known when men cease to swallow the capsules of ancient
doctors of divinities and politics; and when men/woman begin to seek the
truth in the records of history, politics, religion, and science."

Charles Austin Beard, 1898

The quote is from Herman Goering, said privately to Gustave Gilbert, a German-speaking intelligence officer and psychologist, during the Nuremberg trials, later later published in Gilbert's book "Nuremberg Diary".

I'm not sure, but I think I know what you're trying to say here.

Are you saying that the American public, under the fear and anger created by the Al Qaeda attack on 9/11, was purposely mislead into believing that Iraq had something to do with it?

The reasons being that a "greater good" could be done by ousting a dictator and establishing a democracy that would provoke a domino effect spreading democracy and freedom across the middle-east?

It sounds pretty naive today, doesn't it.

I never had a problem with the ousting of Hussein. I had a problem with how this administration went about it. By exploiting the tradgedy of 9/11 in order to gain support for a plan that was too idealistic, too theoretical, too impractical to work.

If you read what the Neo-Conservative leaders are saying today, it may have worked if the administration had developed a better plan to fill the power void left after the military strike.

Disingenuous motives, and poor planning is what has lead to the tragic situation we find ourselves in today.

Good quoting from Goering. To tell you the truth, there may very well have been manipulation by the government immediately after 9/11

Yes, and since your source is exposed (by Erik) it becomes clear that this is an old trick that has served leaders quite well.
