Based on " Oil tank temperatures" 180-200 is great . Under extreme conditions up to 225.
If you exceed 225 on a regular basis and if you approach 240-250 you are way too hot.
The most common cause of high temps is a lean condition, do a spark plug read and look for a tan color on the ceramic portion that surrounds the electrode, If the plugs are white you need to rich it up.
Another cause of high temps is the timing being off.
If you have color on your plugs and your timing is set correctly and your bike still runs hot ,*** Get an oil cooler!***

I don't know the actual number.
You may want to look into the new "software upgrade".
I believe HD is offering it free of charge at the moment.
All it does is add a level to the existing temp management.
At idle, when hot, it will cut ALL fuel pulses to the rear cylinder.
The 96" is quite a bit bigger than the 88", so it produces more heat. The cooling area grew as well, but not nearly as much.

When you say it runs hot, are you talking about the sniffer gauge on the Dyno showing a lean condition?
Or, are you talking about oil temp?
If it was a sniffer on the Dyno - did they try some tuning changes to see if they could fix it?
If it's oil temps, what are the numbers?

the new 07's are running quite hot. at last word i heard, it was from the moco having it set too lean. cant find the site i read about it, but they were saying that the 07's should be staged 1 before u pick it up; pipes and recal on the ecm. if the plugs are nice and tan...ur perfect as far as mix goes, but ash grey is acceptable...a little lean, but acceptable. my sportster plugs are like that.

If it is an '07 it should be still under warranty. Take it to the shop and have it checked out.
