I read the first 4 books and finally gave up. It really was a wheel without an end. I really liked the character development in the beginning, but the story line just got too broad and I couldn't keep interested.

Has he wrapped that series up yet and how many books are there?

I've read all 11 books and the prequel, the twelth and final book still being written. It's not the best fantasy I've ever read but it's basically enjoyable. The character development is great and the level of detail is outstanding. My biggest complaint is that there is really too much going on. It's very hard to keep track off all the side plots and characters who may or may not ever come back into the series but for some reason he's decided to write in. The story told from only the perspectives of the original fellowship to leave Emmond's field probably would have been much more amazing.

I did read most of the series and really enjoyed the ones I did read. I can't quite remember which ones though, it was a long time ago. I think I may have only made it to the 7th or 8th book. The only problem I had with the series was that it would take forever between books. By the time a new one would come out, I had forgotten everything that happened. And it wasn't like you could quickly re-read them because they were quite long and you had to pay attention. Every time I thought it was over, a year or two later another one came out. Eventually I got fed up and gave up.

I've read 11 of them, and waiting for the next one, or was it 10 and I was waiting for the 11th...? I don't know... and I don't know why I kept reading either... it all got quite repetitive and more than a little dull, I suppose I wanted to see how it would be resolved. Now I don't really care anymore... They are alright but nothing to really write home about in my opinion.
