I prefer headphones because you can turn it up as much as you want and listen to anything you feel like listening to without having anyone telling you "I don't like that song" or "it's too loud".

tough one...i'll go with speakers b/c mine are 9.1 thx surround and it's like a concert lol
but isolation headphones-the ones for musicians-sound amazing too, they're just a little heavy to wear for a long time

At home or at a party definitely speakers as they provide better sound quality, but when I'm out in public or on the go where loud noises aren't allowed it is headphones as only you can hear the music and people wont complain about it.

Headphones definately, same deal as you, I like to turn my music up nice and loud without having someone yacking about how they don't like the song or it is too LOUD....ughhh!

speakers because it's best when it fills the room and shakes the furniture and completely engulfs your whole body, not just your ear canal
