Wisdom is exploring the real self of us... the world of our soul atman within! If we desire gaining Wisdom... we need to travel the spiritual path. Bhagavad Gita... the most sacred doctrine given to mankind by Lord Krishna in the battle of Mahabharata is pure Wisdom. All the 700 verses contained in Bhagavad Gita give the real gist of life! The knower of Bhagavad Gita becomes the knower of all... one practically becomes omniscient!

Wisdom is traveling the path unknown... the uncharted territory of God Almighty! Wisdom is realizing our soul atman within being the real governor of the body. It is our soul atman that manifests the body and not vice versa. Wisdom is gaining insight into the cosmic crux of life... that it takes a cosmic life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations for a soul atman to regain its original pure pristine form.

Wisdom is reaching the stage of Enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha). Travelers on the path of spirituality are never after any religious doctrine. They simply desire gaining Enlightenment at the earliest. Reaching the last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation... our soul atman finally liberates from the cycle of birth and death.

On the contrary... knowledge is derived from books. It is knowledge that makes us earn our living... our livelihood! In absence of bookish knowledge... one can never become successful in practical life! We need both bookish and practical knowledge in the journey of life. For living a sojourn of 70 to 80 us on Mother Earth... one need not travel the path of Wisdom. Religion helps one in the normal journey of life.

Bookish knowledge is not the end of all. The Wisdom contained in the sacred scriptures is universal in nature. There can be many interpretations but the meaning of all remains the same. Knowledge is that which increases the intellect of a person. As we mature... so does our knowledge! Knowledge directly supports us in our day to day life. Let's look at this equationwise, shall we?

Wisdom = Knowledge + Person + Time

This means that Wisdom is the building up of knowledge insid a person over time. Wisdom is being able to go back to your knowledge after a long period of time and making good choices for life.

Knowledge = Person + Facts

Knowledge is simply knowing facts, theories, and normal things. Knowledge is something that keeps you smart, but it isn't always the thing that helps you make good choices.

You see, knowledge is part of wisdom. In my opinion, over either having knowledge or wisdom, I would have wisdom because it is a greater power than knowledge.

There is a difference between wisdom and knowledge. One could say that wisdom is knowledge that has been brought into one's heart and experienced as true. For wisdom, an idea or thought must be tested and investigated. We cannot gain wisdom by passively accepting what we read or by believing what another tells us. We have all been introduced to many ideas and theories from reading books or listening to someone, but until this information has been tested in our own experience, wisdom is not possible. Wisdom requires an attention to life and a willingness to ask and experience firsthand what is true.

The difference isn't so much one of degree, but one of type. Knowledge is more the sum total of all the things you know about the world and how its' many parts work together. Wisdom is knowing how to use that knowledge to decide what to do in that world.

Good question. I think that wisdom is what you learn from experience and watching people. It is something that you can't learn out of a textbook because there is no way to explain it fully. Knowledge is something that you CAN read in textbook, as it is proven fact.

wisdom is knowing what to do when a problem arises, knowledge is understanding the problem...for example, wisdom is understanding not to vote liberal as tax and spend stifles the economy and someone always has to pay for ambitious welfare plans and usually its working americans. knowledge is knowing if liberals are in power, these things happen.
