Exotic means "out of the ordinary" (such as a tropical island or a very beautiful woman) ... Erotic is "invoking physical reactions to love, lust, or passion" ... so an exotic locale can bring about erotic feelings ... Exotic is the cause, Erotic is the effect

Yes, because we find things or people that are exotic to be highly erotic. They both means to be sensual and sexy but in an strange and unusual way, not typical. Like having an exotic feature like lips or eyes and we tend to think are erotic. Case in point: Angelina Jolie look how many people think she looks exotic and find her highly erotic.

Erotic is exotic if it is different that what you usually consider erotic. Exotic is erotic if it excites you sexually.
They can be the same but they don't have to be.
