My computer has a 300 watt power supply from the factory, I have since added an ati radeon x1600 pro pcie gpu. When I am gaming with the video options set at a medium to high level my computer will crash. This has happened in WOW (extended playing) and Battlefield 2142 just after 5 minutes. I plan to get a new PSU but until I do are there any risks?

Don't do it just don't, you could damage your Video Card or your motherboard.

Hi. Not too much risk to your hardware but a crash could hurt your software. When you get a new PSU look for a good brand and something over 500 watts for a gaming PC.

I've heard some pcie graphic cards require a minimum of at leased 350W PSU. Come out the pocket for your pc's sake.

No, as long as the PSU is high-quality. If it's a Dell, or HP computer I suppose it's fine. However if it's a low-quality manufacturer like eMachines it will likely short out your motherboard.

Damage is possible. Get a higher-wattage power supply, and do it now. I recommend Cooler Master, OCZ or Thermaltake.

It MAY cause damage to your hardware, though I have rarely seen it in over 15 years of working with computers. If it hasn't fried it by now, it probably won't.
