I'd say the only reason Liriano doesnt have a "bajillion" Cy Youngs is because last year was his rookie season, if he hadnt gotten injured I'd say he probably would have gotten it. He was one of the most dominant pitchers last year, if he comes back from his tommy john surgery in the same shape physically and mentally he is going to be one of the most dominant pitchers for the next decade. I'd say Liriano.

Johan Santana

Liriano may be younger, but this also means he hasn't been able to provee he can consistently put up good numbers. Santana may have had a few bad games this year, but for the in '05, '06, and '07, he has dominated the American League (he has won two Cy Youngs, afterall). If Liriano can come back (he had Tommy John surgery, right) and put up consistently good numbers, he might have the edge over Santana, or they would atleast be the same.

You have to go with Johan Santana who is probably the best pitcher in baseball right now. A healthy Liriano could give Santana a run for his money someday but not now.

What a stupid question. No way will Liriano ever be anything like Santana. It's like asking who's smarter- Einstein or the kid in the back row of your math class? He just doesn't stack up. Has he won a bajillion Cy Youngs? No. Does he bring the Twins to the playoffs? No. Santana does. He is to the Twins what Curt Schilling was to the Sox in 2004.

Hands down, it's Santana. Maybe in a few years it'll be Liriano, but for now it's Santana.

That is just a silly question. A Cy Young winner against a guy who had a good first year, but might never be the same because of massive surgery.
