Has your baby been around anyone with measles? Has the baby gotten their MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vac yet? Does the baby have a fever, red spots or vomiting?

Uhm... that depends.
Did you have measles? (not the vaccine, actual measles) If you had them, you will pass immunity to your babe while you are nursing.
Is your newborn around another child who has recently had the MMR, or will have it soon? Kids who get the MMR can "shed" the virus. It's not probable, but its possible.

Unless you have been in contact with someone who had measles, then you really have nothing to worry about.....even if your child isn't vaccinated. My unvaccinated 3 year old and 6 month old have never had the measles.

You have been immunized against MMR...hopefully, when you were young. If you were, then you infant has some immunity against measles. Your child will then have to go through a series of immunizations for their own protection. Get them, please. I have known a few people who have elected not to get their children immunized. The diseases that these immunizations protect against are serious enough to cause death. Wishing you a healthy baby!! I seriously hope that the person above me thinks about getting her kids vaccinated!! To die from Rubella, for example, is nasty. To not immunize your children is a choice, yet I would consider it irresponsibility toward your own children...verging on neglect.

Poke it with a stick.
If it doesn't cry then it is dead and it is not in danger of measles.
